Modern Art Oxford presents ‘Creative Conversation: I Came To Dance’, bringing together Claudette Johnson and some of her close collaborators Lubaina Himid, Beverley Bennett, Ingrid Pollard and Marlene Smith to discuss her work and artistic process. This talk will be followed by a workshop led by Beverley Bennett with live music from Bruno Guastala and Eric Clarke. The workshop offers an opportunity to explore the possibilities of drawing and mark-making in two-way relationship with improvised music-making.
This event coincides with the exhibition ‘Claudette Johnson: I Came to Dance‘, an overview of one of the most accomplished figurative artists working in Britain today, and Johnson’s first major institutional solo exhibition since 1990.
The exhibition concludes on 8 September 2019.
