Drone Dromel, a sound piece from S/QU/NC/R’s first release MRS Trilogy (2015), edited by Bordille Records, will be presented in London as part of The Engine Room International Sound Art Exhibition.
Twenty-two works by emerging sound artists from Singapore, Russia, Germany, Colombia, Italy, Canada, France, the United States and the United Kingdom have been selected following The Engine Room’s first International Sound Art Competition. Alongside these works will be presented Aerial Aria in the Aviary, a newly commissioned installation by sound artist Janek Schaefer. The Engine Room exhibition will give visitors the chance to immerse themselves in soundscapes, audiovisual pieces, and interact with sound sculptures and installations. The winners of the competition, selected by The Engine Room’s panel of experts including electroacoustic composer Professor Simon Emmerson and sound artists Ray Lee and Mira Calix, will be announced on the opening night of the exhibition on 11 May.
The Engine Room is an initiative by Morley College, London, continuing Morley’s legacy as a leading centre for experimental music and sound art. The competition is supported by Sound on Sound, HHB, Academia, Mogami, TC Electronic and Tannoy.
