Orchids X Bikoka Art Project

Join us at Kew Gardens on Saturday 4 March from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm, for a talk and video art screening as part of Bikoka Art Project events at the Orchids festival.
Curator Christine Eyene will be in conversation with artists Cooking Sections to discuss their research and creative work around environment and biodiversity in Britain, Cameroon, and beyond.
The conversation will be followed by a screening of Yvon Ngassam’s Lolodorf, A Colonial History (2023). This new commission explores the history of Lolodorf, a small town bordering a forest region in the south province of Cameroon. Weaving together oral history, myths, facts, and collective memory, Ngassam’s new work reflects on the importance of retrieving, preserving and transmitting vanishing histories.
Jodrell Lecture Theatre, Saturday 4 March, 2.00 – 4.00 pm
Bikoka Art Project’s exhibition at Kew Gardens is part of the Orchids festival. It features a display of photographic works by Yvon Ngassam, a soundscape by Ngassam and sound artist Elsa M’Bala, and the looped screening of Lolodorf, A Colonial History (2023).
