Casablanca Biennale looking for Development Manager

The Biennale Internationale de Casablanca (BiC)is an independent artistic initiative launched in 2012. Organised by Maroc Premium Fondation, the biennale aims to foster creative and intercultural dialogues between the Moroccan, African and global art scenes. It also seeks to promote access to art to a diversity of audiences in Casablanca and beyond.  

The biennale started as the showcasing platform of IFITRY Residency programme, established in 2008 in the Essaouira region, and has expanded to include projects developed as part of an Incubation Programme hosted at the BiC Project Space thatopened in Casablanca in 2019. It also presents art works and projects selected from biennial open calls, and new commissions developed in collaboration with local and international partners. 

In preparation for its rescheduled 5th edition, the Biennale Internationale de Casablanca is looking for a dynamic, experienced and resourceful Development Manager to join its team. 

Working closely with the Artistic Director and Curatorial Team, the Development Manager will oversee the biennale’s current international partnerships and contribute to develop innovative income strategies for its 2022 online and on-site programme, as it enters its tenth year.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful fundraising in the field of contemporary art, with experience in establishing and consolidating relationships with a wide range of organisations and donors. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to build on the Artistic Director’s international network to develop new collaborations and partnerships. They will also be expected to contribute to the biennale’s new model of sustainability currently being developed.

–       Manage a portfolio of international partners and funders 

–       Identify international funding opportunities and plan applications accordingly 

–       Working closely with the curatorial team, contribute to budgeting specific projects and take the lead on writing funding applications 

–       Implement and maintain a system to manage and record fundraising processes 

–       Working with the biennale administration, ensure that funders and partners guidance is followed

–       Provide strategic input in the development of fundraising initiatives and related events 

–       Contribute to evaluation reports 

–       Undertake any other reasonable duty required by the position

PERSON SPECIFICATION

–       Experience in successful grant applications writing

–       Background in arts or cultural administration 

–       Excellent administration and IT skills

–       Proficient in English and French

–       Persuasive communicator with the ability to articulate the vision and impact of an art project

–       Excellent time-management and planning skills, with proven ability to manage own workload and meet tight deadlines 

–       Ability to work collaboratively and being flexible to changing demands 

–       Adhere to work ethics, good practice and diversity

This is a part-time position, on a self-employed basis, initially for six months, renewable. 

Hours: 10 hours per week

Fee: £1.000 per month

International applications are welcome, however due to current government restrictions, the candidate will preferably be based in London and able to work remotely with set online and in-person work meetings.
