
Organised by the Malian Ministry of Culture and Institut français, the Bamako Encounters are a major international platform dedicated to contemporary photography and new images in Africa. A sustainable platform for discovery, exchange and interaction, the Bamako Encounters are known as a meeting place for African photographers and other art professionals from across the world.
The 11th edition of the Bamako Encounters will take place from 2 December 2017 to 31 January 2018, with professional days from 2 to 5 December 2017. The Executive Director of the Bamako Encounters is Samuel Sidibe, Director of the National Museum of Mali. Marie-Ann Yemsi, cultural consultant and independent curator is the Curator of the 11th Edition of the Bamako Encounters.
The Pan-African exhibition, curated by Marie-Ann Yemsi, will take place at the National Museum of Mali. This exhibition is at the heart of the biennale entitled “Afrotopia”.
The call for applications to the Pan-African Exhibition is open to photographers and video artists from Africa and its Diasporas until 15 June.
